Nothofagus nitida, known as Chiloé's Coigue, is an evergreen tree native to southern Chile and Argentina, occurring between 40° S and Última Esperanza. It belongs to the Nothofagaceae family and was first described in 1896.

Description

Nothofagus nitida (Phil.) Krasser is a member of the genus Nothofagus in the family Nothofagaceae. This species is native to southern Chile and Argentina, where it grows in regions ranging from 40° S to Última Esperanza. It is an evergreen tree and is known by the common name Chiloé's Coigue. The species was formally published in 1896.
