Podocarpus nubigenus, known as the Chilean podocarp, is a species of conifer in the family Podocarpaceae. It is native to the Valdivian temperate forests of southern Chile and adjacent southwestern Argentina, making it the southernmost podocarp in the world. This species thrives in wet and swampy soils and can grow in clear areas, often at a faster rate than other members of the Podocarpaceae family in Chile.

Description

Podocarpus nubigenus is found between 38°S and Ultima Esperanza (53°S). It is well adapted to the moist conditions of its native habitat. The species was first described in 1851 and is part of the Podocarpaceae family, which includes various coniferous trees and shrubs. Its distribution is limited to the southern regions of Chile and Argentina, where it plays a role in the local ecosystem.
