Description

Betula chichibuensis is a member of the Betulaceae family and is native to central and northeastern Honshu, Japan. This species is highly localized, occurring only on specific limestone formations. Its conservation status is Critically Endangered on the IUCN Red List, reflecting its extreme rarity and vulnerability. The species was first described in 1956 by H. Hara.
