Gouania lupuloides (L.) Urb., commonly known as chewstick, is a species in the Rhamnaceae family. It is found in regions including Argentina Northeast, Bahamas, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Florida, French Guiana, and Guatemala. The plant is occasionally used as a teeth-cleaning tool.

Description

Gouania lupuloides is a neotropical plant native to a wide range of locations, including parts of South and Central America, the Caribbean, and the southeastern United States. It belongs to the Rhamnaceae family, which is commonly known as the buckthorn family. The plant is referred to as 'chewstick' in English and is occasionally used for cleaning teeth. This species was published in 1910 and is considered a superfluous name for Banisteria lupuloides L. (1753).
