Rhodomyrtus tomentosa, known as Ceylon hill-cherry, is a flowering plant in the Myrtaceae family. It is native to southern and southeastern Asia, including India, southern China, Taiwan, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Sulawesi. The species grows in coastal areas, natural forests, riparian zones, wetlands, moist and wet forests, and bog margins, from sea level up to 2400 m elevation.

Description

Rhodomyrtus tomentosa (Aiton) Hassk. is a member of the Myrtaceae family. It is found in a range of habitats including coasts, natural forests, riparian zones, wetlands, and moist to wet forests. Its distribution spans southern and southeastern Asia, including regions such as India, southern China, Taiwan, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Sulawesi. The species has been documented in various locations including TW, VN, ID, AU, PF, Hawaii, the conterminous 48 United States, Borneo, Cambodia, China South-Central, China Southeast, Florida, India, Jawa, Laos, the Lesser Sunda Is., Malaya, Maluku, and Myanmar. First described in 1842, R. tomentosa is commonly known as Ceylon hill-cherry in English.
