Celtis toka
Celtis toka (Forssk.) Hepper & J.R.I.Wood

Celtis toka is a medium-sized tree found in the Sudanian-Sahel savannah of Tropical Africa, often near streams and rivers, and also in Yemen and Saudi Arabia. It is part of the Cannabaceae family and was published in 1983 by Hepper & J.R.I.Wood, based on the original work of Forsskål in 1775.
Description
Celtis toka is native to several countries in Tropical Africa, including Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, and others. It is typically found in the Sudanian-Sahel savannah, often near water sources, though it can tolerate drier conditions. A neotype for the species was designated in 1983 due to the lack of an original type specimen. The neotype, with barcode 1856217, was selected for its leaf characteristics, which were central to Forsskål's original description. The species is recognized as valid and accepted in taxonomic literature.
