Cecropia insignis is a species in the genus Cecropia, belonging to the family Urticaceae. It was first described in 1851 by Liebm. This species is distributed across several regions in Central and South America, including Antioquia, Boyacá, Chocó, Tolima, Valle in Colombia, as well as Costa Rica, Ecuador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panamá.

Description

Cecropia insignis is a member of the Urticaceae family, commonly known as the nettle family. The species is native to Central and South American countries, where it occurs in Antioquia, Boyacá, Chocó, Tolima, and Valle in Colombia, as well as in Costa Rica, Ecuador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panamá. It was formally described in 1851 by Liebm. The genus Cecropia is characterized by rapid growth and is often found in tropical forest environments. This species contributes to the biodiversity of the regions it inhabits.
