Abies nordmanniana, the Caucasian Fir, is a fir species native to the mountainous regions south and east of the Black Sea in Turkey, Georgia, and the Russian Caucasus. It grows at elevations between 900 and 2,200 meters in areas with over 1,000 mm of annual precipitation. The species was first described in 1841.

Description

Abies nordmanniana belongs to the genus Abies in the family Pinaceae. It is commonly known as the Caucasian Fir and is cultivated in several European countries including Belgium, France, the Netherlands, and Great Britain. The species is adapted to high-altitude environments with significant rainfall, making it a valuable tree in both ecological and horticultural contexts.
