Description
Vitis palmata is a tall, climbing liana native to the United States, particularly in the south-central and southeastern regions. It grows from Texas east to Florida and north along the Mississippi Valley to Illinois. Though primarily found in wet habitats, it is adaptable and can occasionally be found in higher-ground environments. The plant is sometimes observed at the edges of fences. Isolated populations in the Northeast are likely introduced rather than native. The species was first described in 1794 by Vahl.
