Carpinus fangiana, known as the monkeytail hornbeam, is a species in the Betulaceae family. Native to southern China, it occurs in Sichuan, eastern Yunnan, northern Guangxi, and Guizhou. This tree can grow up to 20 m tall and is commonly found in forested mountain valleys between 900 and 2,000 m elevation. It is available through commercial suppliers.

Description

Carpinus fangiana is a member of the genus Carpinus and is part of the Betulaceae family. The species was first described in 1929 by Hu. It is distributed in Global, China South-Central, and China Southeast regions. This tree is characterized by its growth in forested mountain valleys within its native range. Its availability through commercial channels indicates its potential for cultivation beyond its natural habitat.
