Tabebuia aurea is a species of the genus Tabebuia in the family Bignoniaceae. Native to South America, it is found in Suriname, Brazil, eastern Bolivia, Peru, Paraguay, and northern Argentina. Despite its common name, Caribbean trumpet tree, it is not native to the Caribbean. It is also known as silver trumpet tree and tree of gold. The species was first described in 1895.

Description

Tabebuia aurea is a tree species in the Bignoniaceae family. It is distributed across several regions in South America, including Suriname, Brazil, eastern Bolivia, Peru, Paraguay, and northern Argentina. The species is sometimes called Caribbean trumpet tree, though it does not occur naturally in the Caribbean. Other common names include silver trumpet tree and tree of gold. The scientific name was published in 1895 by Benth. & Hook.f. ex S.Moore, based on earlier work by Silva Manso.
