Mitreola petiolata is a member of the Loganiaceae family and is native to a wide range of regions, including Brazil (Northeast, North, Southeast, West-Central), the Bahamas, Bangladesh, Belize, Bolivia, and parts of the United States such as Alabama and Arkansas. It is also found in the Andaman Islands, Assam, Cambodia, Cameroon, Caroline Islands, China (South-Central and Southeast), and Parque Nacional Natural Tinigua in Colombia. The species was first published in 1841.
