Yucca capensis L.W.Lenz is a member of the Asparagaceae family and is native to a restricted area in Baja California Sur, Mexico. It is classified as endangered by the IUCN due to its limited distribution and habitat degradation. The species name derives from its occurrence near Cabo San Lucas, the southernmost point of the Baja California Peninsula. It is known as the Cape Region Yucca in English.

Description

Yucca capensis L.W.Lenz is a plant species found only in a small region of Baja California Sur, Mexico. It was first described in 1998 and is recognized as an endangered species because of its restricted range and the ongoing threats to its habitat. The species is named for its proximity to Cabo San Lucas, where it was first documented. It belongs to the genus Yucca and the family Asparagaceae. Its limited geographic distribution makes it particularly vulnerable to environmental changes and human activities that threaten its natural habitat.
