Juniperus cedrus, known as the Canary Islands Juniper, is a species of juniper found in the western Canary Islands and Madeira. It grows at elevations between 500 and 2400 meters and is closely related to Juniperus oxycedrus and Juniperus brevifolia.

Description

Juniperus cedrus belongs to the genus Juniperus in the family Cupressaceae. It is native to the western Canary Islands and Madeira, where it is found at elevations ranging from 500 to 2400 meters. The species is closely related to Juniperus oxycedrus, which is native to the Mediterranean region, and to Juniperus brevifolia, found in the Azores. The species was first described in 1847 by Webb & Berthel.
