Cymbopogon schoenanthus, known as camel grass, is a fragrant plant species in the Poaceae family. It is native to Southern Asia and Northern Africa.

Description

Cymbopogon schoenanthus, also called camel's hay, straw of Mecca, fever grass, geranium grass, or West Indian lemon grass, is a member of the Poaceae family. It is characterized by its aromatic foliage and is found in regions such as India, Brazil, Algeria, Benin, Burkina Faso, the Central African Republic, Chad, Djibouti, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guinea, the Gulf States, Iran, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Libya, Mali, and Mauritania. The species was first described in 1815.
