Darlingtonia californica, known as the California Pitcher Plant, is the only species in the genus Darlingtonia and belongs to the Sarraceniaceae family. It is a carnivorous plant native to the Pacific Northwest of North America, including British Columbia, California, Oregon, and Washington. The species was first described in 1853 by Torr.

It is a member of the Sarraceniaceae family, commonly referred to as the New World pitcher plant family. This species is found in the Pacific Northwest, specifically in the regions of British Columbia, California, Oregon, and Washington. The plant was scientifically described in 1853 by Torr. It is also known by the common name California Pitcher Plant.
