Hordeum brachyantherum is a species of the genus Hordeum in the family Poaceae, commonly known as California Barley or meadow barley. It is native to western North America, ranging from Alaska to northern Mexico, as well as coastal areas of Kamchatka in Russia and coastal Newfoundland.

Description

Hordeum brachyantherum, described by Nevski in 1936, is a member of the grass family (Poaceae). It is found in a wide range of regions including Alaska, California, British Columbia, Japan, and parts of Russia. This species is also present in several U.S. states and Canadian provinces, extending to areas such as Arizona, Colorado, and Alberta. Its distribution includes both North American and global locations, with records in Japan, Kamchatka, and the Kuril Islands.
