Corylopsis pauciflora is a deciduous shrub in the Hamamelidaceae family, native to Taiwan and Japan. It grows up to 1.5 m tall and 2.5 m wide, producing pale yellow flowers in early spring before its leaves emerge. The leaves initially appear bronze and later turn green. This species is cultivated in gardens and parks in temperate regions.

Description

Corylopsis pauciflora, known as buttercup winter-hazel, is a shrub native to Taiwan and Japan. It belongs to the Hamamelidaceae family and was first described in 1838 by Siebold & Zucc. The plant features pendent racemes of pale yellow flowers in early spring, with new leaves appearing bronze and maturing to green. It is a spreading shrub, reaching up to 1.5 m in height and 2.5 m in width. The species is grown in temperate gardens and parks for ornamental purposes.
