Description
Stephanomeria tenuifolia is a perennial herb with rhizomes and stems 20–70 cm tall. It has linear to filiform basal leaves, and reduced cauline leaves. The plant produces single flower heads on branch tips, with involucres 5–14 mm in size and 5–6 phyllaries. The florets number 4–6, and the cypselae are smooth or grooved. The species is found in arid and semi-arid regions of the western U.S. and northern Mexico, including states like California, Nevada, and Utah. It was first described in 1907 and is part of the genus Stephanomeria in the Asteraceae family.
