Caryota mitis, known as the Burmese fishtail palm, is a palm species native to Tropical Asia, from India to Java to southern China, and has been naturalized in regions such as southern Florida, parts of Africa, and Latin America. It was first described in 1790 from Vietnam. In Florida, it is found in hummocks and disturbed wooded areas.

Caryota mitis is a member of the Arecaceae family and is part of the genus Caryota.
