Buddleja araucana, described by Philippi in 1873, is native to the semi-deserts and steppes of Patagonia, occurring in Argentina and Chile. It was introduced to cultivation by Harold Comber in 1925 as a form of B. globosa.

Description

Buddleja araucana belongs to the genus Buddleja in the family Scrophulariaceae. It is found in the semi-arid regions of Argentina's Mendoza, Río Negro, and Neuquen provinces, as well as in adjacent areas of Chile. The species was first scientifically described by Philippi in 1873. Harold Comber later introduced it to cultivation in 1925, initially classifying it as a form of B. globosa.
