It is commonly referred to as Brush Cypress Pine, although it does not belong to the pine genus or family. The species is distributed in two regions along the eastern coast of Australia. It was first described in 1860 and is also known by other names such as stringybark pine and Port Macquarie pine. Its range includes parts of New South Wales and Queensland.
