Brachychiton australis, known as the broadleaf bottletree, is a small tree native to eastern Australia. It belongs to the genus Brachychiton and the family Malvaceae. Previously classified in the family Sterculiaceae, it is now included in Malvaceae. The species was first described in 1897.

Description

Brachychiton australis is a small tree species found in the region of Queensland, Australia. It is part of the Malvaceae family and is recognized by its broad leaves. The tree was originally placed in the Sterculiaceae family, which has since been reclassified as part of the Malvaceae. Commonly called the broadleaf bottletree, it is one of several species in the Brachychiton genus.
