Solidago flexicaulis L., commonly known as Broad-Leaved Goldenrod, is a perennial herb in the Asteraceae family. It is native to eastern and central North America, including regions such as New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Quebec, and parts of the United States like Alabama, Arkansas, and Illinois. The species was first described in 1753. It thrives in diverse habitats such as mesic upland forests, well-drained floodplain forests, seepage swamp hummocks, and rocky woodlands.

Description

Solidago flexicaulis is a member of the genus Solidago, which belongs to the family Asteraceae. The species has been the subject of taxonomic discussion, with early works by Gray and others examining its identity without formally designating a type. Later authors, including Semple, contributed to clarifying its status. The plant is characterized by its broad leaves and is commonly found in a range of forested and woodland environments across its native range.
