Ulmus glabra, commonly known as Broad-Leaved Elm or Wych Elm, is a deciduous tree native to Europe and parts of Asia, with a distribution ranging from Ireland to the Ural Mountains and as far south as the Peloponnese and Sicily. It is also found in Iran. The species thrives in montane regions at altitudes up to 1,500 m, favoring moist soils and high humidity. It is prevalent in Scandinavia, where it can form pure forests, and has been introduced successfully to northern Norway and parts of Greenland.
Description
