Najas minor, known as Brittle Naiad, is an annual aquatic plant in the Hydrocharitaceae family. It is native to Europe, Asia, and North Africa, and has been introduced to North America, where it is considered invasive in the eastern United States. It thrives in calm waters such as ponds, reservoirs, and lakes, and can grow in depths up to 4 meters.

Description

Najas minor is a submersed herb found in regions including the Netherlands, Morocco, Japan, the Philippines, China, Siberia, Central Asia, Iran, Turkey, Ukraine, Germany, France, and Italy. It has spread to North America and is now present in the eastern United States, from Florida to Oklahoma, New Hampshire, Ontario, and South Dakota. This species is commonly found in still water environments and can grow in depths up to 4 meters.
