Cynosurus echinatus, known as bristly dogstail grass, is a grass species in the Poaceae family. Native to southern Europe, it has been introduced to the Americas and Australia, where it is sometimes considered a noxious weed. In Chile, an herbicide-resistant strain has been found in canola and wheat fields. The plant is an annual grass that grows 10 to 50 cm tall. Its inflorescence is a rounded or oval cluster of spikelets, with the fertile spikelet bearing an awn up to 1 cm long. The closely clumped awns give the inflorescence a bristly, hairy appearance.
