Bridelia stipularis is a perennial evergreen climber native to Southeast Asia, southern China, and the Indian subcontinent. It grows over hedges, bushes, and occasionally on larger trees. The plant is used in traditional medicine in Malaysia and the Philippines. It also serves as a food source for the larvae of certain Lepidoptera species, such as Endoclita malabaricus.

Description

Bridelia stipularis (L.) Blume belongs to the family Phyllanthaceae and was first described in 1826. It is distributed across regions including the Andaman Islands, Assam, Bangladesh, Borneo, Cambodia, China South-Central and Southeast, the East Himalaya, Hainan, India, Java, the Lesser Sunda Islands, Malaya, Myanmar, Nepal, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Sumatra, and Taiwan. This species is a climbing plant that thrives in tropical environments. It is known to be used in traditional medicinal practices in parts of Southeast Asia. Additionally, it supports certain Lepidoptera species, including Endoclita malabaricus, by serving as a larval food plant.
