Bridelia ferruginea Benth., a member of the Phyllanthaceae family, is a shrub or small tree found in various habitats such as wooded savannah, open forest, forest galleries, and thickets. It is distributed globally, with records in Angola, Bangladesh, Benin, Burkina, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo, Gabon, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Mali, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Togo, and other regions. The species was first published in 1849.

Description

Bridelia ferruginea is utilized as firewood and for food. In Angola, it is locally known as 'mungige (kb).' The conservation status of this species is Least Concern (LC) according to the IUCN Red List (2017).
