Gibasis pellucida, known as bridalveil, is a trailing plant in the family Commelinaceae. Native to the West Indies, it has been introduced to various regions, including parts of the United States, Mexico, and Argentina, where it is considered invasive in southwest Texas and Mexico. It was first described in 1983.

Description

Gibasis pellucida is a member of the Commelinaceae family and is recognized by its trailing growth habit. It is native to the West Indies and has since been introduced to several regions, including Cundinamarca, Costa Rica, Brazil, Taiwan, the conterminous 48 United States, El Salvador, the Free State, Guatemala, and various parts of Mexico. The plant is considered invasive in southwest Texas and Mexico. It was formally published in 1983 and is known by the common name bridalveil in English and other languages.
