Podocarpus elongatus, known as the Breede River Yellowwood, is a conifer in the Podocarpaceae family. It is distinguished by its bush-like growth form and is native to regions in southern Africa, including the Cape Provinces and parts of Malawi, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. It is a protected species in South Africa.

Description

Podocarpus elongatus (Aiton) L'Hér. ex Pers. is a coniferous tree in the Podocarpaceae family. It is commonly referred to as the Breede River Yellowwood and is native to southern Africa. Unlike other yellowwood species, it often grows as a large, round, multi-stemmed bush. The species is found in the Cape Provinces, as well as in Malawi, St. Helena, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. It was first described in 1807 and is currently protected in South Africa.
