Helianthus bolanderi, a species of the genus Helianthus in the family Asteraceae, is native to California and Oregon. It is commonly known as Bolander's Sunflower and is often found in mountainous regions, particularly on serpentine soils. The species has been documented from southwestern Oregon and in northern and central California, extending as far south as Santa Cruz County, with some isolated populations reported in southern California.

Description

Helianthus bolanderi, described by A.Gray in 1865, is a sunflower species in the family Asteraceae. It is distributed across California and Oregon, typically in high-altitude habitats. The plant is associated with serpentine soils and is known by the common name Bolander's Sunflower. Its range includes areas from southwestern Oregon through northern and central California, with a few scattered populations in southern California.
