Description
Micranthes oregana (Howell) Small is a member of the Saxifragaceae family and is commonly referred to as bog saxifrage. It is a perennial herb that grows from a thick, fleshy or woody caudex. The plant is native to the western United States and Canada, including Alberta, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington. It thrives in moist habitats such as marshes and wetlands. The plant produces a basal rosette of leaves that can reach up to 25 centimeters in length. The inflorescence is supported by a stout peduncle that may grow over a meter tall and is topped with one or more dense clusters of white-petaled flowers. The species was first described in 1905.
