Hyparrhenia cymbaria, known as boat thatching grass, is a perennial bunchgrass native to Africa, Madagascar, and India, and introduced to Mexico. It is a member of the Poaceae family and was described in 1919.

Description

Hyparrhenia cymbaria (L.) Stapf is a perennial grass species in the Poaceae family. It is native to regions including Angola, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sudan, and India, with an introduced population in Mexico. It is commonly known as boat thatching grass. This grass is part of the genus Hyparrhenia and has been documented in botanical literature since 1919.
