Woodsia obtusa (Sw.) Torr., known as bluntlobe cliff fern, is a rock fern native to eastern North America. It typically grows on rocky substrates, including rock faces and scree, and is commonly found in the Appalachian region. This species is adapted to calcareous environments but can also tolerate neutral soils.

Description

Woodsia obtusa is a member of the Woodsiaceae family and is characterized by its preference for rocky habitats. It is a widespread and well-adapted species in its native range, often found in areas with limestone or other calcareous rock formations. While it thrives in such conditions, it is also capable of growing in soils with a neutral pH. The species was first described in 1840 and is known for its ecological versatility in rocky environments.
