Nothofagus solandri is a species of tree in the Nothofagaceae family, native to New Zealand. It is found on both the North and South Islands, typically at low elevations extending into mountainous regions. The species is also referred to as Nothofagus solandri var. solandri. In New Zealand, it is commonly called Fuscospora solandri.

Description

Nothofagus solandri, known as black beech, is a tree species endemic to New Zealand. It is distributed across the North and South Islands, growing in a range of habitats from lowlands to higher elevations. The species was first described in 1871 and is part of the Nothofagaceae family. It is one of the southern beech species and is sometimes classified under the genus Fuscospora in New Zealand.
