Carallia brachiata is a member of the Rhizophoraceae family and is commonly known as the billabong-tree. It is a large tree species that can grow up to 25 m tall. Its natural distribution spans from Australia through Southeast Asia to the Western Ghats. The species is recorded in several regions including the Andaman Islands, Assam, Bangladesh, Borneo, China, India, Indonesia, and Madagascar. In India, it supports the moth Dysphania percota, while in Australia, it hosts Dysphania numana.
