Sesbania herbacea (Mill.) McVaugh is a species in the Fabaceae family, commonly called bigpod sesbania. It is native to the southeastern United States, where it grows in wet environments. The plant has been introduced to various regions, such as Ontario, Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Great Britain, Vietnam, Romania, the European part of Russia, Spain, China, Brazil, Japan, and parts of Colombia. It was first described in 1987. Outside its native range, it can be found in locations including the Flemish Region, Alabama, and the Parque Nacional Natural Sumapaz. In some areas, it may be considered an introduced or naturalized species.
