Big-Leaf Linden

Tilia platyphyllos, known as Big-Leaf Linden, is a deciduous tree in the Malvaceae family. It is native to much of continental Europe and parts of southwestern Great Britain, typically growing on limestone-derived soils. Though not native to Scotland or Ireland, it has become naturalized in these areas. The species was first described in 1771 by Scopoli.

It is commonly called Big-Leaf Linden and is distributed across British Columbia, New Brunswick, Ontario, Quebec, and various European countries. The tree is native to continental Europe and parts of Great Britain but not to Scotland or Ireland, where it has been introduced and naturalized. The name 'lime' is used for several Tilia species and is unrelated to the citrus lime. The species was first published in 1771 by Scopoli.
