Pinus wallichiana, known as Bhutan Pine, is a coniferous evergreen tree native to the Himalaya, Karakoram, and Hindu Kush mountains. It is found from eastern Afghanistan to Yunnan in southwest China, growing in mountain valleys at altitudes of 1800–4300 m. The species prefers a temperate climate with dry winters and wet summers. It can reach heights of 30–50 m.

Description

Pinus wallichiana is a member of the Pinaceae family and is distributed across regions including the Himalayas, Karakoram, and Hindu Kush. It is commonly called Bhutan Pine and is known in Pashto as Nishtar. The tree is adapted to high-altitude environments and thrives in temperate conditions with seasonal rainfall patterns. It was first described in 1938 and is found in various botanical regions globally.
