Betula schmidtii, described by Regel in 1865, is a member of the Betulaceae family and the genus Betula. It is native to Manchuria, Korea, the Primorsky Krai region of the Russian Far East, and Japan. The tree can reach heights of 30 m and is distinguished by its dark, nearly black bark. The wood of this species is exceptionally dense and does not float, making it suitable for uses requiring a tough and long-lasting material.
