Gnetum urens is a vine native to northern South America. It is commonly known as Bell Bird's Heart. The species is distributed across several regions, including parts of Brazil, Colombia, French Guiana, Guyana, Peru, Suriname, and Venezuela. The accepted scientific name, G. urens (Aubl.) Blume, was published in 1834.

Description

Gnetum urens belongs to the Gnetaceae family and is found in Amazonian regions such as the Parque Nacional Natural Serranía de Chiribiquete and Parque Nacional Natural Los Katíos. It occurs in areas like Amazonas, Caquetá, Putumayo, Vichada, and other Amazonian departments in Colombia. The plant is a climbing vine with no significant economic uses reported. It has been documented in various protected and natural regions of northern South America, including the Bota Caucana and the Amazonian highlands of Nariño. The species is also present in the Amazonia nororiental of Colombia and in the Guainía department.
