Diplachne fusca, known as beetlegrass sprangletop, is a grass species in the Poaceae family. It is native to North America, the Caribbean, South America, Africa, Asia, and Australia, and has been introduced to Europe, New Zealand, and Hawaii. It thrives in salty, wet environments such as salt marshes and shallow depressions.

Description

Diplachne fusca (L.) P.Beauv., commonly referred to as beetlegrass sprangletop, is a grass species in the Poaceae family. It is found in regions including CY, IT, GR, TR, Atlántico, Bolívar, La Guajira, Magdalena, Sucre, NO, KR, Vermont-US, Afghanistan, Alabama, Algeria, Angola, Argentina Northeast, Argentina Northwest, Argentina South, Arizona, Arkansas, Bahamas, and Bangladesh. This species prefers habitats with high salinity and moisture, such as salt marshes and shallow waterlogged areas. It was first described in 1817.
