Casuarina cunninghamiana, known as beefwood, is a species in the Casuarinaceae family. Native to Australia and New Guinea, it is a tree with fissured bark, scale-like leaves in whorls, and small fruits containing winged seeds. It was first described in 1848.

Description

Casuarina cunninghamiana, also called river oak or creek oak, is a tree species in the Casuarinaceae family. It is characterized by fissured and scaly bark, with branchlets that may droop. The leaves are reduced to scales arranged in whorls of 6 to 10. The fruit is 7–14 mm long and contains samaras measuring 3–4 mm. This species is native to Australia and New Guinea and has been introduced to various regions, including Portugal, Cyprus, Italy, and others. It was first published by Miq. in 1848.
