Frangula betulifolia, known as beechleaf frangula, is a shrub or small tree in the Rhamnaceae family. It is native to the Sierra Madre Occidental cordillera in northern Mexico and to the mountainous and desert regions of the Southwestern United States, including Arizona, New Mexico, and far west Texas. It also occurs in Sonora, Chihuahua, and Durango, with a significant population in Nuevo León to the east.

Description

Frangula betulifolia (Greene) Grubov is a member of the Rhamnaceae family and is distributed across the Southwestern United States and northern Mexico. Its range includes Arizona, New Mexico, and far west Texas, as well as the Mexican states of Sonora, Chihuahua, Durango, and Nuevo León. The species was first described in 1949. It is commonly referred to as beechleaf frangula in English.
