Scaevola plumieri (L.) Vahl is a member of the Goodeniaceae family and is commonly known as Beachberry. It is a coastal dune plant native to tropical and subtropical regions. The species was first published in 1791.

Description

Scaevola plumieri is found in a wide range of locations, including Brazil, the Caribbean, parts of Africa, Southeast Asia, and various island territories. It was originally described as a superfluous name for Lobelia plumieri L. (1753). The taxonomic history includes a discussion on type designation, with a decision made in 1978 to select a specific specimen as the lectotype. This species is adapted to coastal environments and is commonly associated with sandy habitats.
