Cassipourea guianensis is a species in the Rhizophoraceae family, commonly known as bastard waterwood. It is native to regions in South America, including Brazil, Colombia, French Guiana, Guyana, Suriname, Trinidad-Tobago, and Venezuela. The species is documented in several protected areas in Colombia, such as Parque Nacional Natural Serranía de Chiribiquete, Parque Nacional Natural Los Katíos, and Parque Nacional Natural Gorgona, as well as in various departments like Amazonas, Antioquia, and Valle.

Description

Cassipourea guianensis, described by Aubl. in 1775, is a member of the Rhizophoraceae family. It is found across a range of ecosystems in South America, with specific records in the northeastern and northern regions of Brazil, as well as in several Colombian departments and protected areas. The species is also present in French Guiana, Guyana, Suriname, Trinidad-Tobago, and Venezuela. Its distribution highlights its presence in tropical environments across the northern part of the continent.
