The species is distributed across several regions including the Bahamas, Colombia, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Florida, Haiti, Jamaica, the Leeward Islands, Puerto Rico, the Southwest Caribbean, Trinidad-Tobago, the Turks and Caicos Islands, Venezuela, and the Windward Islands.

Picramnia pentandra Sw. is a member of the Picramniaceae family and is known by the common name Bastard Bough.
