Banksia splendida, known as shaggy dryandra, is a shrub native to the southwest of Western Australia. It has sharply-pointed linear leaves with a woolly underside, and produces cream-coloured to maroon or yellow flowers in clusters of 65 to 115. Each flower head later develops up to eight egg-shaped follicles.
Description
Banksia splendida is a member of the Proteaceae family and was formally described in 2007 by A.R. Mast and K.R. Thiele. This species is characterized by its distinctive foliage and flowering structure, with each head containing numerous flowers that mature into follicles. It is found exclusively in Western Australia and is adapted to the region's environmental conditions.
