Banisteriopsis malifolia is a species in the Malpighiaceae family, native to several regions in Brazil and Bolivia. It was first described in 1982 by B.Gates, based on earlier work by Nees & Mart.

Description

Banisteriopsis malifolia belongs to the genus Banisteriopsis within the Malpighiaceae family. It is found in various parts of Brazil, including the Northeast, North, Southeast, South, and West-Central regions, as well as in Bolivia. The species was formally published in 1982 by B.Gates, who recognized and named it based on earlier contributions by Nees & Mart. This plant is part of a broader group of species in the Malpighiaceae, a family known for its diversity in the Neotropics.
